Roller Mills
CPM SKET designs and supplies roller mills for efficient preparation of oil seeds. Said roller mills are used in the following process stages:
- Fine grinding of small-grain oil seeds
- Flaking of pre-crushed oil seeds
Flaking mills are used for rolling-out uncrushed small-grain or pre-crushed oil seeds after previous conditioning so that optimum flakes are formed for oil extraction in the following screw presses or extractors. Backed by many decades of technical experiences, roller mills made by CPM SKET are adapted to the customer’s specific application conditions so that the customer may profit from high efficiency and optimum service stability.
The rollers with a diameter of 800 mm and a maximum length of 2000 mm are supplied with smooth surface. The standard design is made from high-grade chill casting so that several re-grinding operations are possible and a longer service life is ensured.

- Kind of seed
- Required flake thickness
Design and Function
The sophisticated design of roller mills ensures trouble-free operation and low-maintenance effort.
- Loading device with feed roller for even dosing.
- Robust self-aligning roller bearings in bearing rockers are designed to guide the rollers and to ensure low-vibration run.
- Electric motors and special-design V-belt drives ensure optimum roller speeds and low-noise operation.
- The hydraulic or spring-loaded pressure system generates the roller pressure and serves as overload protection. The roller pressure is infinitely variable, monitored and automatically controlled by the system.
- A filling-level monitoring unit may be installed on feedstock inlet side for work in combination with hydraulic control of roller mill. This feature automatically prevents direct metal-to-metal contact of rollers even in case of discontinuous feedstock supply.
- The machine frame is a welded steel construction fixing all machine components and safely taking up all high mechanical stresses.
- The gap setting mechanism permits correction of roller gap and is coupled with a suitable indicator.
- Scrapers are installed to keep the rollers clean and to ensure thorough and smooth run.
The provided large doors permit easy inspection and maintenance and ensure good dust protection.
